NASA is about to land the first-ever helicopter on Mars.

The little craft, weighing in at slightly below four lbs. (1.eight kilograms) and named Ingenuity (a moniker given by Alabama scholar Vaneeza Rupani), is tucked up within the stomach of NASA’s Perseverance rover. Ingenuity, which launched final summer season on board Perseverance as a part of the company’s Mars 2020 mission, will make the primary powered flight on one other planet.
