Lucy mission: NASA’s visit to the Trojan asteroids

The Lucy mission is a NASA probe scheduled to launch in October 2021 that may discover a set of asteroids close to Jupiter generally known as the Trojans. These historic house rocks maintain necessary clues to the creation of our photo voltaic system and, doubtlessly, the origin of life on Earth. 

Together with a mission referred to as Psyche, Lucy was approved in January 2017 as a part of NASA’s Discovery program, which helps centered and comparatively low-cost planetary missions whose growth prices are capped at round $450 million. A 12 months after approval, the mission was formally given a schedule and a set of eight asteroid targets.
