United Launch Alliance To Launch NROL-71 In Support Of National Security

December 5, 2018 – A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Delta IV Heavy rocket carrying a payload for the Nationwide Reconnaissance Workplace (NRO) will lift-off from Area Launch Advanced-6 on December 7 at eight:19 p.m. PT. Designated NROL-71, the mission is in assist of our nation’s nationwide protection missions.

The Delta IV Heavy is the nation’s confirmed heavy lifter, delivering high-priority missions for the Nationwide Reconnaissance Workplace, U.S. Air Pressure and NASA. With a complicated higher stage, the Delta IV Heavy can ship over 14,000 kilos on to geosynchronous orbit, in addition to all kinds of complicated interplanetary trajectories.

The second stage is powered by an AR RL10B-2 liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen engine.

Up to now ULA has a monitor file of 100% mission success with 131 profitable launches.
